GIVENS, Sarah Farmer, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, surrounded by her family. Born January 14,1928 in Evington, Virginia, Sarah was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sarah attended Longwood College and worked for Hercules Powder Company in Pulaski, Va. and Welton Motor Freight in Richmond. Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Ned; and parents, Harry and Carroll Farmer from Evington. She is survived by her brother, William Farmer (Betty); son, Joe (Marilynn); and daughter, Donna (Jim); grandchildren Jason, Joy (Mike), Jonathan, Lexy, Nick, Bryan, Patrick, Timmy, Josh, Matthew and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Madison, Michael, Elena, Josh Jr., Noah and Tyler. Sarah and Ned, who loved their family and friends, were charter members of Bon Air Baptist Church. Sarah loved to sew, play Bridge, care for her yard, was a sports fanatic and an excellent baker. She bestowed in her family true Christian values and was a devoted friend who had a positive outlook on life. She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. Special thanks go to the staff at MRMC for their loving care. Contributions in Sarah’s name may be made to Autism Speaks and PANS Research and Advocacy Initiative. The family will receive guests from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Va. 23113. Celebration of Life services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, at the funeral home. Graveside service to be held at at 2:30 p.m., at Westhampton Memorial & Cremation Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23238.
