NANCE Robert Samuel, Sr., 92, of Midlothian went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2017. He was born on March 1, 1925 in Lemon City, Florida, the son of Joseph and Ada Nance. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Joe Jr., and sister, Connie. He is survived by Frances (Doris) Carney Nance, the love of his life for 73 years.
Bob was a charter member of Bon Air Baptist, served as a deacon at Southampton Baptist, and has more recently been a member of Huguenot Road Baptist. Bob proudly served his country in World War II in the United States Navy. He worked for 55 years in the wholesale grocery business. Family and friends remember hundreds of hours of family fun involving boating and skiing on the James River. He remained a lifelong fan of NASCAR. In his later years, watching old “westerns” on TV was his preferred pastime.
Bob leaves behind two sons, Robert S, Nance, Jr. (Pat) of Chesterfield and David M. Nance (Linda) of Roanoke. Three grandchildren, Christie Nance Sauers (Jimmy) of Seabrook, Texas, Rob Nance (Christy)of Clayton, North Carolina, and Mike Nance of Roanoke have fond memories of trips with Granddad. He also leaves behind three great granddaughters, Allie, Annabel, and Amie Sauers and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather to remember Bob from 3:00 – 5:00pm on Sunday, July 2, during Visitation at Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23113. The funeral service will be held there on Monday, July 3 at 11:00am. A private graveside service will be held at Westhampton Memorial Park.
