Miller, Nancy Jackson, 79, of Richmond passed away peacefully on September 6, 2022, from ALS.
The child of Eugene Kerfoot Jackson and Eleanor Smith Jackson, she was born in Petersburg, Virginia. Within a few months, the family moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where Nancy was raised. She attended Maury High School.
She graduated from Mary Baldwin College (MBC) in 1965 and moved to Richmond to teach elementary school in the Richmond school system. In 1969, she married Grayson Brownlee Miller, Jr. whom she had known since the sixth grade in Norfolk!
After retiring from teaching, she was employed by Chippenham Medical Center in the marketing department and the volunteer office. Eventually, she became one of their volunteers. For many years she served as board secretary of the Greater Oxford Civic Association.
Nancy was a long-time member of Bon Air Presbyterian Church, where she was on the Session, sang in the choir, rang handbells, and cooked for Wednesday night dinners. For over 25 years, she was the enthusiastic and dedicated chairwoman of The Memorial Garden Committee.
Her joys were being with family and friends, Jazzercise, the MBC book group, the birthday girls, travel, live stage shows and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, her brother, Eugene Smith Jackson (Mary Boyce) and his children Kevin Jackson (Tina), Mark Jackson (Cathie), Shawn Jackson (Mandy) and Erin McLemore (Andrew).
A memorial service will be held at Bon Air Presbyterian Church, 9201 W Huguenot Road, Richmond, Virginia at 11:00 AM on September 17, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Memorial Garden Fund at Bon Air Presbyterian Church or to the charity of your choice.
