On March 25, 2017, Linda Apperson Williams, age 67, passed away following a period of declining health. She is survived by her husband, Marvin T. Williams, MD, her daughter, Jennifer Williams Anderson (Eric), granddaughters Rachel E. Anderson, and Victoria L. Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Marshall Apperson and Bessie Winn Apperson.
Linda loved people. She maintained close relationships in her large extended family and worked to keep the family connected. Linda had a heart for animals too, caring for them frequently. Linda was a leader and was passionate about the causes in which she believed. She was, until becoming ill, an active member of Bon Air United Methodist Church where she served as leader of her circle, co-president of the United Methodist Women, and many other volunteer activities. In her previous service at both Huguenot UMC and Stratford Hills UMC, she was president of the United Methodist Women and chairman of the staff-parish relations committees. Previously, she served as president of the Women’s Auxiliary to the United Methodist Family Services.
Linda was the treasurer and secretary for the local Celiac Support Association and was later active in the Gluten Intolerance Group. She taught many newly diagnosed gluten intolerant and celiac individuals how to follow an enjoyable gluten free diet, creating and sharing her own recipes. Linda found joy in the simple things and spent as much time with family and friends as possible. She was a planner and doer plus a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held Wednesday March 29 at 3pm at Bon Air United Methodist Church 1645 Buford Road, Richmond VA 23235. Visitation immediately preceding at 2pm, with reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bon Air United Methodist Church.
