Joseph Wayne “Poke” Denton, age 62, passed away February 13, 2017. Poke was born February 28, 1954. He had been a manager at LabCorp for many years. He was a member of the Dennisville Hunt Club and National Rifle Association. Poke loved his family dearly and always had lots of fun with them. His granddaughter “Puddin Puddin” was the light of his life, he loved that baby girl. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, sharing jokes and laughs, giving family and friends a hard time every chance he got but always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Poke never met a stranger, only friends.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara J. Denton. He is also, survived by his children; Michael Denton and Amanda Lynch (Mike); granddaughter, Ryleigh Lynch; and his mother, Elizabeth Ann Denton; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. Poke is preceded in death by his father, William Joseph Denton; brother, Edward Lee Denton and infant brother, Irvin Denton.
Visitation for Joseph Wayne “Poke” Denton will be from 4:00 – 8:00pm Friday February 17, 2017 at Woody Funeral Home – Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA 23113. Funeral Service will held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Woody Funeral Home – Huguenot Chapel. Burial will be in Dale Memorial Park immediately following.
