Janice Allred King, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Price. She is survived by her husband, Steven King; her son, Ken Allred (Wendy); daughter, Pam Allred-Irby (Brian); grandchildren, Renae (Ryan), Marina (Jon), William, Ryan, Jacob, Mikayla and Harrison; great grandchildren, Max, Raylee, Chloe, Bentley and Christopher; her brother, Steve Price of Fresno, CA; nephews, Stephen and Noel; and a host of other family members.
Jan graduated from Meredith College in 1969 with a Bachelors of Arts in English. In 1984 she graduated from Southeastern at Wake Forest with a Masters of Arts in Education. She was passionate about childhood education and taught preschool for a number of years. Throughout her career, she served as the Minister of Education at Cosby Memorial Baptist Church (1989-1990), Woodland Heights Baptist Church (1986-1989) and Winfree Memorial Baptist Church (1985-1986).
She loved playing the piano, singing and was all around musically inclined. She loved playing Scrabble with her family (and usually won), and her competitive spirit will be greatly missed. She loved her family and enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren and planning special events catered to each individual grandchild. Her dedication to her family was unmatched.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 14 at Dale Memorial Park.
Special thanks go out to Mark and Charlotte Allred for their friendship and support; and to Kimberly Murphy for her love and care throughout her final years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Parkinson Foundation, parkinsonfoundation.org.
