BETHEL, Mrs. Jane Wyatt, of Richmond, widow of Douglas E. Bethel, died on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, in Reston, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, John M. Wyatt, Jr. and Willie G. Wyatt; and her brother, John M. Wyatt, III. She is survived by her devoted children, her son, Douglas Wyatt Bethel and his wife, Patricia, of Clifton, Virginia; and her two daughters, Jane P. Parvey, and her husband, Steve, of Centreville, Virginia; and Gwendolyn B. Wilcox of Elkridge, Maryland. She also is survived by her sister, Ashlin W. Smith and her husband Lloyd T. Smith, of Charlottesville; and six beloved grandchildren, and one great grandson. Mrs. Bethel was a life-long native of Richmond, who graduated from Collegiate School for Girls, received a Liberal Arts Certificate from then RPI, and graduated from The Katherine Gibbs School, New York City. She was a member of the Commonwealth Chapter of the D.A.R., and the Fluvanna County Historical Society, and was a long-time member of Southampton Baptist Church, where she taught an adult Sunday school class for many years. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Maury Cemetery, after which there will follow a reception at Southampton Baptist Church.
