 Obituario de George Devignier Gillenwater
It is with heavy heart and immense sadness that we announce the passing of “Dusty” George de Vignier Gillenwater on February 10, 2024. She was born Nov. 8, 1943, the only daughter of the late Robert and Helen H. de Vignier of Williamsburg, VA. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of nearly 50 years, Les Gillenwater; her sons, S. Scott Lewis and his wife, Holley of Midlothian, VA and Ashley M. Gillenwater and his wife, Ashley of Louisville, KY; her stepdaughter, Stephanie G. Reese and her husband, Dan of West Point, VA. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Tanner and Mason Lewis, Margaret and Ella Ruppert, Wade, Woods and Vin Gillenwater. Dusty was a 1970 graduate of VCU, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. In the 15 years following a successful 28-year career in real estate sales with Slater/Prudential Realtors, many extremely close friendships were formed while working her fun job at Robious Elementary School. These cherished memories Dusty carried until the end of her life. It is Dusty’s wishes that these close friends will meet her children and their families as she is so very proud of them. It is her hope that her family will better understand her deep love for these many close friendships. Following her memorial service at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 6000 Grove Ave. on Friday, Feb. 16, at 2:00 P.M., all are invited to a reception in the church’s fellowship hall. Her remains will be laid to rest at a later date in a private service in the church’s Memorial Garden. The family would like to thank Dusty’s medical care team which includes the following: Dr. Mary Helen Hackney, her devoted oncologist, Anna Koch, her hospice nurse, and her care giver Latoya Nelson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in loving memory of Dusty may be made to the VCU Massey Cancer Center or to St. Stephen’s Food Outreach Program.
