Donnie grew up in Richmond, where he developed lifelong friendships and a love for music. He was a skilled guitar player, passionate about classic rock, and always enjoyed music wherever he went.
He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia with a degree in pharmacy and a desire to help others. He mentored many pharmacy students and colleagues and was beloved by his patients. He served the community as a pharmacist for 39 years, working at Memorial Regional Hospital, Standard Drug, and CVS Pharmacy.
In his free time, Donnie enjoyed reading Stephen King novels, playing golf, and going fishing. He was a lifetime member of the Providence Forge Hunting and Fishing Club, where he taught his girls and grandchildren to fish. Following his retirement, he traveled the globe with his wife, Kathy, seeing everything from the pyramids in Egypt to the hot air balloon festival in Albuquerque. His easygoing sense of humor, knack for giving the perfect advice, and love for his family and friends was unmatched.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Amos; daughter, Sara Blose and husband, Brett Blose; daughter, Devon Weisz and partner Will Wheeler; grandchildren, Drew Blose and Adelyn Weisz; and sister, Samayra Sinclaire.
A celebration of life will be held on December 2, 2023, at 11 a.m. at New Highland Baptist Church, located at 9200 New Ashcake Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (https://www.lbda.org/).
