Bob was born in Akron, Ohio to parents Abe and Alice Halpert. At an early age his parents moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he grew up. He graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School.
He attended Washington and Jefferson College and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in petroleum engineering. His first job was with Sacony Vacuum Oil Company in Anaco, Venezuela. There he met Jo Ann Johnson, a teacher at the Sacony Staff School. They were married on August 27, 1955 in Woodstock, Virginia.
His career in the oil business took him and his family to many locations including Anchorage, Alaska where he was superintendent of the Alyeska Pipeline Company and twice to Midland where he retired in 1991 from Exxon.
Bob was a lifelong Presbyterian. He had served as deacon and elder at several churches. In Midland he was a member of Trinity Presbyterian and currently at Grace Presbyterian.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbara Schott.
He was so proud of his family and loved each of them with an unconditional love. He is survived by his wife, Jo; his children Rob Halpert and wife Chrissy, Jim Halpert and wife Reisa, Laura Dickens and Jeremy Dickens; grandchildren Hannah Halpert Davis and husband Drew, Morgan Halpert and wife Lisa, Emily Halpert, Caroline Dickens, Patrick Halpert and Connor Halpert; great grandchild James Reece Davis; nephews Rick, Tom, Frank and Bob Johnson; and cousins Patricia Maue and Mary Jane Wolf.

A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be Saturday, March 25 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2801 N. Garfield, Midland, Texas at 10:00 AM.
