Robert was born on June 2, 1952 to Robert Cason Baker and Annie Lura McQueen Baker. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1971 and afterwards attended Angelo State University.
He was an avid bridge player, loved to play bingo and go to Hobbs to play the video slot machines. Robert was a member of Midland Centennial Lodge #1448, was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite and York Rite Mason and a member of the First Baptist Church of Midland. He retired from Plains All American Pipeline in October of 2016 after sixteen years of service. He lived in Midland for over forty years.
Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Gladys McQueen and James A. and Lillie Baker.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Ronald Wayne Baker of Brownwood, Texas and Donald Ray Baker and wife Alice of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Annetta Jolene Winkler and husband Richard; four nephews, Lance and Troy Winkler and David and Johnathan Baker; several cousins and a special cousin, Janie Humphries and his special pets Skippy and Sweetie.
A visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be a funeral service at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Vernon Stokes officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
