Mary Alice graduated from high school at the age of 16 and then from Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, Oklahoma with a Bachelor in Mathematics at the age of 19. She graduated in 1950 from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas with a Masters in Education. After graduating she taught math for many years, including at Cowden Junior High School and Midland High School, and worked in the oil and gas industry. Teaching was a life long passion. She never missed an opportunity to teach somebody something new.
Mary Alice married the love of her life, Robert L. “Bob” Glossop, on August 5, 1957 in Pittsfield, Illinois. They enjoyed a blessed and wonderful life for 50 years until his passing in 2007.
Mary Alice was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was an amazing mother that lived life for her family. Her smile could light up any room and her laugh was infectious. She loved helping others and was an active philanthropist. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Mary Alice is survived by her son, Robert L. Glossop, Jr. of Lubbock and her daughter, Angela G. Glossop and fiance’ Ronnie Parker of Midland. She was “Granny and Grandma” to Robert L. Glossop, III (Bobby) of Lubbock, Brandon H. Glossop of Lubbock, Jason P. Nash and wife Olivia of Ft. Worth, and a special friend and caregiver, Maryellen Gonzales of Midland.
Funeral services will be on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 12 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Russ Hale. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park with a graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Midland or any other charity of your choice.
