He was born September 25, 1951, in San Angelo, Tx, and attended Jal public schools in Jal, New Mexico where he met the love of his life, Janice Lord, graduating in 1969. He was drafted in 1970 during the Vietnam war. He and Janice wed May 18, 1972, and moved their lives to Fort Ord in Monterrey, California. He received an honorable discharge after 2 years active stateside and the remaining years in Reserve service in 1977. In December 1974 they moved and built their life in Midland, Tx. He worked in IT all of his career until his retirement in 2015. They both took their vows seriously; until death do us part. He has joined his beloved wife of 50 years who passed on February 28, 2021. They have been reunited in Glory and what a day of celebration it was! He said, “Janice, you’ve got to see this!!” And her reply, “You ain’t seen nothing, yet, honey!”
Anyone who knew Martin knew that he always did things his way; in life and in death. And if it wasn’t his way, it was the wrong way. A running joke in our family: Teamwork was doing exactly what he said. He instilled honor, integrity, accountability at all times, and love into the lives of their 2 daughters, Misty and Mindy. He taught us how to fish, how to play golf, how to catch and throw a softball, and how a man ought to treat a woman.
Left only to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are Misty (Aldridge) Franks married to Jody Franks of Greenwood. And Mindy (Aldridge) Webb married to Shane Webb of New Caney, Tx. Three beautiful granddaughters, Grace Franks, and Toni and HayLee Webb, and one Great Grandson, Rowdy Webb. 5 Brothers and 1 sister: Leta Aldridge of Robert Lee, Tx, Don (Vicki) Aldridge of Brighton, CO, Stephen (Karla) Aldridge of Jal, NM, Andy (Marcia) Aldridge of Cheyenne, Wy, Dan (Linda) Lord of El Paso, Tx, and Alan (Nancy) Lord of Katy, Tx and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Proceeding him in death: his beautiful and loving wife, Janice Aldridge, his parents, Warren and Marion Aldridge, his mother and father-in-law, Bert and Patsy Lord, a brother, Ray Aldridge, and one nephew who was more a son, Wesley Lord.
Our lives will never ever be the same without our daddy and friend. But we find peace in knowing he passed after having had the time of his life with so much excitement and happiness in his heart that he had to rush right up to heaven and tell Momma all about it.
Pallbearers will be Shane Webb, Don, Stephen, Andy, Vaden, and Varlyn Aldridge. Honorary pallbearers are his daughters, all of his nieces and nephews, and all of his cousins and friends.
We’ll watch for deer and take it from here, Daddy.
