Linda Heath Warden Evans, of Andrews and Midland, Texas, has gone home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2014. Linda was born December 30, 1932, the youngest of four girls, on a farm ranch outside of Seminole, Texas to Henry and Cora Heath. She grew up in Andrews, graduating from Andrews High School in in 1950. Upon receiving her Bachelors degree from Howard Payne College in 1953, Linda immediately began her 35 year tenure with Andrews Independent School District as an elementary teacher. She began work as a counselor after she received a Masters degree from Sul Ross University. She then earned a second Masters degree from Texas Tech University to serve the majority of her years with Andrews Independent School District as an exceptional educational diagnostician. Linda has been a resident of Midland, Texas for the last 24 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Midland, Texas and was loved by many friends.
Linda married G.W. “Dub” Warden, the golf coach for Andrews High School for over two decades, in 1957. They had two children, Jennifer Warden Milton, presently of Plano, Texas and Matthew Warden who died as an infant. After Dub’s passing, Linda married Jack Evans in 1998.
Linda had a passion for people, travel and bridge. Linda would continuously entertain others with her witty and humorous stories. Her loving generosity has supported many in educational and life pursuits. Traveling extensively throughout the world, Linda explored many different locations and cultures. She also competed in many international bridge tournaments as a Life Master Duplicate Bridge player. But, the delight of her life were her twin granddaughters, Haley and Sophie Milton.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Jennifer, Sophie and Haley, her son-in-law, J.J. Milton and a sister, Fern Dannelley Goree of Midland. She has been preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and two sisters, Freida Nell Smith and Patsy Wright Nicholson.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., June 20, 2014, at First Baptist Church, Midland, Texas. Linda will be interred at the Andrews City Cemetery.
