Karen Anne Reichle McLane, 69, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, under the care of Hospice, surrounded by her husband, three children, and their families. She loved the Lord and her Catholic faith with all her being and passed that faith to her entire family, and shared her faith with all she met in the way she lived her life. She has fulfilled her lifelong goal of meeting God face-to-face. Our greatest heartache is her greatest joy.
Karen and Monty were high school sweethearts and married on June 22, 1974 (49 years). After putting each other through college, she commenced her greatest calling that of being a mother and wife. She loved her role and maintained a loving home to nurture her family and mold her children to be joyous and love our Lord. She always said our greatest legacy is our three children and their families, of whom she was so proud.
Karen is a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, which she very much considers home. She taught CCD for many years when the children were young. Later, Karen volunteered her time for many years as the manager of the St. Ann’s Gift Shop. She was involved in many functions at St. Ann’s, including Altar Society, Martha Committee, Chairman of the St. Ann’s Family Fair, ACTS Retreat, Home Bound Eucharistic Minister, Pro-Life Advocate – a humble servant who helped behind the scenes in countless ways. In 2003, she was honored as a “Distinguished Graduate” of St. Ann’s School in recognition of her achievements.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Hazel Reichle, her brothers Michael and Kevin Reichle, sister-in-law Brenda Reichle, father-in-law Hollis McLane, and step-father Bob Corbell. Karen is survived by her husband, Monty McLane, and her children and their families: Travis McLane and wife, Emily, and their child, Ezra; Katie McLane Ornelas and husband, Hector, and their children Santiago, Gabriel, Sophia, and Liliana; and Allison McLane Trevino and husband, Tim, and their children Blake and Easton. She is also survived by her siblings Patricia Epley, Greg Reichle, and Scott Reichle, and a large and loving extended family.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Home Hospice of Odessa, especially Melanie, for the compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Home Hospice of Odessa.
A vigil and rosary service will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 6:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at Resthaven Memorial Park, and reception at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
