Dora Castillo Gonzales

Dora Gonzales was born in Midland, Texas, on June 6, 1929, to Raymond Zuniga Castillo and Faustina Sanchez Castillo. She attended school in Midland, Texas. She later moved to Snyder, Texas, where she met the love her life, Hiram S. Gonzalez. Hiram and Dora were married in 1946 and were married for 65 years. She was known for being a great homemaker and seamstress for her family. She often sewed for special occasions like quinceneras and parties. She also had a gift for crafts like macramé and knitting for her grandkids and loved gardening. She and her husband Hiram, who was ordained as a minister (1979), did mission work in Mexico. Not only did they sow the Word of God to the people of Mexico but also fed them, provided clothing, built churches, and handled other special needs for the poor, bringing counsel and compassion to the community of God’s people. In her own personal life, she loved witnessing to people about the Lord Jesus Christ.

"Do your best to present God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed rightly handling the word of truth”. II Timothy 2:15.

In her later years, she devoted every day to praying for her children, grandchildren, and lost souls. She was a great intercessor.

She is preceded in death by husband, Hiram Gonzales, her daughter Emma Sue Avila, son Robert Gonzales, grandson Michael Avila, her mother and father and sister Gloria Castillo.

She is survived by her sisters Helen Hall, Arlene Cortinez, Abby Gomez, Millie Thompson. Her brothers Manuel Castillo and Freddie Castillo. She is survived by her two daughters; Anna Gomez of Temple Texas, and Christine and husband Louis Valdez of Midland, Texas. She has 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great- great-grandchild.

Pallbearers are her grandchildren Timothy Gomez, Frankie Gomez, Randy Valdez, Robert Gonzales; great-grandchildren Robert Gonzales Jr., Dru Gomez, Nathan Bejil. Honorary Pallbearers are Angelo Gomez and Mark Gomez,
