Donald Owen Daniel

Don was born in Cass County, Texas, on November 1, 1936. Following WW II the family moved to Odessa, Texas, where he graduated from Odessa High School in 1955. He attended classes at Odessa College and Texas Tech. He married Sue Ann Brumble on December 12, 1958; they were married forty years until her death in 1999. He found love a second time marrying Doris Janet Crist on December 1, 2001.

Don worked as a machinist for Miether Machine Works in Odessa for many years, and traveled the globe performing dynamic balancing of gas turbines. He subsequently was employed by Ingersoll-Rand as manager of the repair center in Midland; then in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, transferring back to Midland in 1986. After retirement he volunteered for the Midland County Crisis Intervention Unit. He was active at several churches throughout his life, most recently Bellview Baptist Church. Don enjoyed golf, hunting and especially fishing. He loved the Lord and was devoted to his family.

Don was preceded in death by his father and mother, J.O. and Mary Daniel; his brother, Gerald Oscar (Bud) Daniel; and his wife, Sue Ann Daniel.

Don is survived by his wife, Doris Janet Daniel; his sister, Betty (Daniel) Cardwell of Odessa; his children: Dr. Craig and Betsy Daniel of Odessa; Lori (Daniel) and Kent McLain of Edison, Ohio; Clint and Marcia Daniel of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and stepdaughter Lori and Howard Schmitt of Amarillo, Texas. He also leaves twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ellis Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Bellview Baptist Church at 10:00 am with the Reverend Aaron Wills officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
