He was born in Lamesa, TX August 4th, 1945 to Reuel and Marjorie Wilder.
He was in the Air Force from 1963 to 1967 where he served a tour in Korea and a tour throughout Europe.
Upon leaving the Air Force, he settled in Midland, where he worked as a milkman for Gandy’s, where he met his wife, Rebecca, and eventually became a commercial sheet metal mechanic.
He was an avid fan of all Houston sports and a lover of good music and western movies and TV shows.
He was always the first to lend a hand and never expected any kind of payment in return.
He is preceded by his parents, Reuel and Marjorie Wilder; and his brother, Maurice Wilder.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Rebecca Wilder; daughter, Elaine Wilder; son, Billy Joe Wilder Jr and his wife, Anna Wilder; son, Shane Wilder; sister, Linda Hedges; brothers, Jim and Tom Wilder; four grandchildren, Anna, Nathaniel, Alice, and Ella; two great-grandchildren, Eric and Elva; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Billy Joe Wilder was a strong, hard-working, man who was always willing to impart wisdom, especially to his children, and always quick with a joke. There was not a person he couldn’t strike up a conversation with and have laughing.
We love you and will miss you, papa.
