She was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on October 5, 1948 to the late Anna Marie (Billet) and Martin Herman Tjaden. Betty graduated from Lennox High School in 1966, attended Sioux Falls College, and later NDSU where she earned a B.S. in Music.
Betty married Curtis Forsberg on July 3, 1975 in Sioux Falls, SD and they grew their family with their two daughters, Jody and Kristi.
She worked in different administrative roles throughout her life, which included clerk in an insurance adjuster’s office, administrative assistant for the City of Midland and a transcriptionist for Midland Police detectives.
Betty enjoyed journaling, studying Judaica and the whole Bible, music and singing. She was the church organist for South Maple Methodist in Rapid City, SD, sang in various church choirs as well as the MOSC Symphony Chorale. Betty enjoyed travel and taking trips in the RV, but especially loved keeping up with the kids and grandkids.
Betty is survived by her husband of almost 49 years, Curtis Forsberg of Midland; daughters, Jody Ormsby and husband Phil of Midland and Kristi Forsberg and husband Daniel Slaughter of San Angelo; four grandchildren, Alanah Slaughter of San Angelo, Hamony Slaughter of Cisco, Chandler Slaughter of San Angelo and Jaden Ormsby of Midland; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, M. Herman Tjaden and Ann Tjaden; and brother, James Tjaden.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 6-8 PM at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10 AM at Ellis Funeral Home followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Park.
