George Gross

George Gross, age 89, of Middletown, Ohio passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023. He was born the 6th child out of 12 to the "Banjo Man of Franklin", Dewey Gross and Charlottie "Lottie" (Stone) Gross on June 14, 1934 at Big Branch, Kragon, Breathitt County, Jackson, Kentucky.

George and Joyce attended Unity Baptist Church. He loved to hunt, pitch horseshoes, play softball and spend time with his family and friends in Adams County, Ohio. George worked and retired from Interstate Folding Box Company, Middletown for 43 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ray Gross; grandson, Joshua Steven Gross; five brothers, Littleton, James Harding, Wiley, Billy Joe and Dewey Jr.; four sisters, Florence, Zola, Thelma Jean and Violet Lee.

George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce; three sons, Wayne (Susie) Gross, Johnny Gross, Steve (Jenny) Gross; four grandchildren, Beth (Nick) Graham, Mike Gross, Rachel Gross and James Gross; four great grandchildren, Jackson, Finley, Addison and Alden Graham. George also leaves behind one brother, Walter Gross of Franklin, OH and one sister, Judy Templin of Miamisburg, OH; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Our family would like to extend our love and appreciation for such great concern and care for our dad, George, and mother, Joyce, to the entire office of Dr. Timothy Wourms and to the entire staff at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm on Friday, December 29, 2023 and 10-11 am, Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Unity Baptist Church, 5960 Trenton Franklin Road, Middletown, OH 45042. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am on Saturday with Brother Greg Banks officiating. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery, Monroe, OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties, 5940 Long Meadow Drive, Middletown, OH 45005.
