Daniel "Toby" Joseph Banks Jr.

Danny Jo “Toby,” enjoyed being a father and lived for watching his boys thrive in sports, school, and become good people. Parenting was always a number one priority in Danny’s life. He was encouraging and tough when he needed to be but lived to see his children become successful adults. He enjoyed playing competitive pool and played in many tournaments over the years. He loved playing darts, fishing, and hunting. His children were fortunate to have someone who exposed them to so many wonderful outdoor activities and taught them to enjoy wildlife.

Danny Jo enjoyed the simple things in life. He didn’t have to have money or riches, small things made him very happy and content. He enjoyed winning because it meant he had prepared, strategized, and accomplish the goal of being better than the opponent. Some would say he was overly competitive, and some would say he was bull-headed, and both of those things may have been true, but he knew what he wanted to do and figured out how to win at it. Some might even call it successful.

The world will not be the same without Danny Jo in it, for those who were lucky enough to know him. We will miss his laugh, his sense of humor, and sometimes his orneriness. We will miss the heart he demonstrated when he felt passionately about something, good or bad, as there would no convincing him otherwise. What this ultimately means is that a light has gone out on earth but a new has been ignited in the heavens. We look forward to the day we will see him again, where the streets are paved with gold, and he will embrace us with his loving arms.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Lily Banks, Curtis Bruce Lykins Jr., Jettie Lykins; nephew; Cody Chace Jernigan, and several beloved aunts and uncles.

Danny is survived by his wife of 26 years, Andrea (Melton) Banks, two children, Noah (wife Hannah) Daniel Banks, Zachary Taylor Banks; mother, Peggy (Mike Monroe) Banks; father, Daniel (wife Amy) Banks Sr.; two sisters, Sheila A. Banks (Randy Handley), Sherlene Kitchen (Elmer); brother, David (wife Tonia) Jernigan; and aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be 12pm-1pm on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. A Funeral Service will follow at 1pm with Pastor Bobby Reed officiating. Burial will be at North Monroe Cemetery.
