Sam was in our combined ‘77 group of about 20 probationary firefighter candidates in the academy. Our instructors were C.Elison and D. Minch. They told us we were going to the Navy Pier for physical training (PT),  but we needed a (CTA style) bus driver, we were asked if anyone knew how to drive the bus, Sam and I raised our hands and Sam was call to drive. I was told to sit in front to assist Sam if necessary. Sam did fine, and we arrived at Navy Pier. 
On our return trip, Sam told me he never drove a bus before, but knew he could do it! I admitted to Sam that I too had never driven a bus! We had a good laugh, and Sam drove us to and from Navy Pier for the rest of our time in the Fire Academy!

Leon I tried several times to reach you, but was not able to. So I googled you only to find an obituary of your passing, Matthew was shocked he was planning on visiting you as you asked him to, Rest In Peace you will remain in my heart forever Love always.

My Dearest Leon,
                                        I'm just learning of your passing.  And its devastating to me and my children. We Will Never Forget You And All The Memories We Have With You.  The Camping In Wisconsin, The HorseBack Riding....All The Adventures And Great Times We Shared.  Rest Well My 🔥Man.  You Will Be Greatly Missed.
