Robert Dean Mercer

Robert Dean Mercer, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Christmas Day, December 25, 2016. Robert was born December 13, 1931 in Canton, Ohio to parents, George William Mercer and Myrtle Marie Mercer. He retired from the USMC in 1970 as a Gunnery Sergeant after 20 years of service. During his time in the service he was stationed at MCRD San Diego CA, 29 Palms CA, MCAS Kaneohe Bay, HI, and MCAS Cherry Point, NC. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Orange Park, FL. He also belonged to the General Roy S. Geiger Detachment of the Marine Corps League. He is preceded in death by parents, twin brother, Richard Dale Mercer, brother Donald Mercer, and sister Patricia Stokes. Robert is survived by his wife of 47 years Ilse Anne Mercer, sons; Robert D. Mercer Jr. (Susie), Richard Dale Mercer, Frank Lawrence Mercer (Brenda), Christopher Dean Mercer and his sister, Joyce Wolf; grandchildren, Brianna Mercer, Benjamin Mercer, Megan, Amanda and Erin. A funeral mass will be held 11 AM Monday January 9, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena, 1649 Kingsley Ave Orange Park, Florida 32073 and graveside service will be held 1 PM January 9, 2017 at HOLLY HILL MEMORIAL PARK, 3601 Old Jennings Road Middleburg, FL 32068.
