He was born on March 2, 1927 at the home that he was raised in and lived in most of his life.
Roy was a 1945 graduate of Miamisburg High School. After high school Roy served his country in the United States Army, where he served in Germany as part of the Refugee Displacement Team. Following the war, Roy worked at NCR prior to retiring from DP&L Hutchinson Station. After retirement, Roy enjoyed operating his local greenhouse and providing gardening advice to his many customers. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau Association. Roy served as a director for the Montgomery County Agricultural Society for 25 years, served on the County 4-H Advisory Council and was a 4-H advisor for Miami Producers 4-H Club for over 50 years.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, David & Julia (Leis) Early; his wife of forty-four years, Joan (Crawford) Early; and his daughter, Sandra Rush.
The family would like to thank the staff and employees of Elmcroft of Washington Township for 3 years of being his home away from home and caring for dad. A special thank you to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton for their commitment to caring for dad over the last 6 months, and especially for their care given in his final days.
