Randy was born on August 18, 1963, to Robert and Nancy (Banks) Jones. He is preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Robbie. Randy passed away on Robbie’s birthday, July 26.
Randy, who would become a commercial and instrument-rated pilot, was raised in Trotwood, Ohio, and then in Miamisburg, Ohio; he was graduated from Carlisle High School. Under the mentoring of his boss Kenn Ricci, an American aviation entrepreneur, Randy began what would be a life-long career with Corporate Wings. This career culminated in becoming President/General Manager of Corporate Wings FBO at South Bend International Airport. The entire concept of this FBO was Randy’s dream and was developed under his supervision in 2015.
Travel was on Randy’s list of fun – always. His adventures took him to many places on the globe, with such activities as scuba diving and bungee jumping. He also loved to fish, talk politics, read Kurt Vonnegut, play poker, ride his motorcycle, go sailing, appreciate eclectic music, and watch the antics of his rescue cat, Sylvester.
“Such a nice guy” was people’s inevitable opinion of him. When Randy was talking with you, you were the only person in the room.
Randy will be greatly missed by his siblings: Earl (Jane) Jones, Cheryl (Richard) Hilliard, and Angela (Andy) Fuleki and by his nieces and nephews: LeAndrea Miller, Elizabeth Jones, Brock (Chelsea) Hilliard, Evan (Christine) Jones, Rachel (Doug) Hilliard, Zack Fuleki, Lauren Fuleki, and Brooke Fuleki, and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nieces and great nephews.
Randy was lucky to have many close wonderful friends in his life from Dayton, Cleveland, Atlanta, and South Bend, including the extraordinary team at Corporate Wings FBO in South Bend. Randy and his family are especially grateful to incredible friends Rob Arnold, Anita Schultz, Cyndi Fenton, for -- without hesitation -- being with Randy in his final days.
