Randal Keith Lakes, age 63, of Miamisburg, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on September 27, 1961 to Barbara Ann (Rhonomus) and Clemie Lakes. Randy grew up in Miamisburg and raised his family there.
He played football in his youth and was an avid sports fan, especially of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Indianapolis Colts. Randy was a locomotive engineer and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway. He loved music, some of his favorites were Tom Petty and Johnny Cash. Randy was an animal lover and took in everyone's strays. He always had several dogs. Randy was a born again Christian and impressed everyone he ever met with his extensive knowledge of the Bible. He loved to read and was a big historian - he had his own library. He had the entire box set of All In The Family and still watched VHS.
Randy was a beloved man with a great sense of humor, and he had that old school toughness that is rare these days. His greatest joy in life were his kids and grandkids, he loved spending time with them, teaching them the value of loyalty, and making them feel loved. All of his grandchildren called him "Papaw Lakes" and that was his greatest accomplishment. Faith, family, and friends were pillars of his life. He was so committed to donating to his favorite charities and tithing multiple churches.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clemie Lakes; sisters, Pamela Lakes, Tina Kaesheimer; and niece, Lacy Horn.
Randy is survived by his mother, Barbara Ann McKinney; children, Ashley Lakes, Ryan Lakes, and Brooke Lakes; grandchildren, Madison Lawson, McKartney Lawson, Scarlett Lakes, Parker Lakes, Sullivan Randal Lakes, Savannah Ward, and Axel Olmstead; siblings, Michael (Kathy) Lakes, Tammy (Jeff) Federer, Rodney Lakes, and Patricia Williams; the mother of his children, Lisa Stamm; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
