PHILLIPS, Leo Elwood, age 92 of New Iberia, Louisiana, formerly long-time resident of Miamisburg, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Camelot of Broussard. He was born November 20, 1920 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Matthew E. and Mary Bessie (Fitzwater) Phillips. In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his siblings, Ethel Moore, Harry Phillips, Carl Phillips, Troy Phillips, Olive Alexander, Mabel Burckle, Mary Ellen Wolf and Beulah DeMoss. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Audrey Constance (Case) Phillips; his children, Sharon (Carl) Bakay of Lafayette, LA and David (Charla) Phillips of Columbia, MD; grandchildren, Jennifer Bakay of Houston, Christopher Phillips of New Orleans and James (Jen) Bakay of Titusville, FL; a great grandchild, Troy Adkins, and siblings, Ruth Mae Hamilton of Centerville and Esther Lewis of Kettering as well as may other extended family and friends. Leo was a maintenance engineer for Airco, Burdette Oxygen, and Huffy Corp., retiring after 17 years with Huffy. He was 1938 graduate Palestine High School, Past President of the Moose Lodge in Miamisburg, a WWII veteran serving in Italy for the Army Air Corps, and a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, Centerville. Leo enjoyed family, friends, golf, and travelling. A memorial service will begin 2:00 PM Saturday, October 26, 2013 at St. George's Episcopal Church and will be officiated by Father Ben Phillips. Burial will immediately follow in the St. Francis Memorial Garden with Military Honors. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Cox Arboretum, 6733 Springboro Pike, Dayton, 45449.
