James "Jim" Payne, age 96, of Miamisburg, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. Jim was born March 8, 1926 in Miamisburg to the late John and Lydia Payne. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during World War II. Jim worked as a bartender at the American Legion Post 165 in Miamisburg for over 40 years and enjoyed every minute of it. He belonged to the VFW, and was a member of Minerva Lodge #98 F. & A.M.
He was the oldest of three boys, both his brothers Joe and Jerry Payne passed before him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Darleen Payne; two daughters, Cindy (Mike) Palmer and Chris (Dan) Sollar; grandchildren, Amber (David) Miller, Traci (Johnny) Green, and Ian Sollar; dear friend, Ben and his wife Sara Morgan; special friends, Bonnie and her husband Clif Hertlein, and their children Lisa and John Hertlein; and numerous family and loved ones.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 21, 2022 at the American Legion Post 165 in Miamisburg with Rev. Michael G. Hout officiating. His final resting place will be in Hillgrove Cemetery.
