Geoffrey Thomas Guntle, age 62, of Miamisburg, Ohio, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Geoff was born February 4, 1960 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio to the late Earl R. and MaryAnn C. (Jergens) Guntle.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Angela D. (Williams) Guntle; his son Christopher B. Guntle, grandsons Jackson Guntle and Calvin Guntle; his son Taylor T. Guntle (Hannah Dowrey); and his son Dylan R. Guntle (Hope Alarcon Guntle). Geoff is the last born of his parents' eight children: Raymond (Cathy) Guntle, the late Doug Guntle, Marianne (the late Charlie) Farrell, the late Joe Guntle, Linus Guntle, Donna (Rick) Blankenship, and Fred (Jackie) Guntle. Geoff's in-laws Warren and Sara (Toadvine) Williams love him as their own and had a special bond with his sister-in-law Lori (Williams) Marcus and husband Carl Marcus. He is much loved by his nieces & nephews and their children, the Toadvine family, and so many dear friends they can't be listed for fear of missing someone.
Geoff learned his strong work ethic from childhood working on the family farm. After graduating from Miamisburg High School in 1978 he worked as a cabinet maker with his brother Doug and then with Dayton Bars and Counters. On January 25, 1979 he began an apprenticeship at Zenith Patterns of Dayton and earned his Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship to become a Journeyman Wood Pattern Maker on December 30, 1993. Throughout his career in the pattern trade Geoff worked at various job shops in Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus and continued his education by earning a Training Certificate of Recognition from Cimatron Technologies before retiring from Wendling Patterns, Inc. in January of 2015. In August of 2015 Geoff accepted a job offer at Morris Bean and Company in Yellow Springs, Ohio to work as a process engineer where he remained as an employee until his passing.
All of Geoff's hobbies and interests centered around his family, home, and farm. Baseball was a major interest. He was a Dragon's season ticket holder and enjoyed the games with his kids, grandkids, and father-in-law. He coached or assistant coached ball teams for his sons from ragball through high school, and volunteered to help in various ways for their soccer, basketball, football, bowling, and wrestling teams. He remodeled his home, built a covered bridge, and was restoring a tobacco barn when he became ill. Since purchasing the family farm in 1985, Geoff has raised tobacco, hogs, chickens, and most recently managed a small cow/calf operation raising beef cattle.
His family would like to thank all of the family and friends who have shown never-ending love and support during Geoff's illness and continue to do so after his passing - we have felt your prayers everyday.
