VAUGHN, Ala (Riddell), age 85 of Miamisburg, passed away April 7, 2011 at Heartland of Miamisburg. Ala was born December 27, 1925 in Irvin, KY to the late Park and Audrey (Pittman) Riddell. In addition to her parents, Ala was preceded in death by her husband Lee “Arthur” Vaughn; her sisters, Judy Mallicoat, Brenda Weaver, Carolyn Lane and Aleen McPherson and brothers, an infant, Randy, Earl, Glenn, Orville, Robert and Donald Riddell. She is survived by her daughter Debbie L. Ostwald of Franklin; son-in-law, Dennis K. Ostwald of Florida; brothers, Joseph (Betty) Riddell of Miamisburg and James (Rosetta) Riddell of West Carrollton; sisters-in-law, Sue Riddell, Mary Riddell and Joyce Riddell; brother-in-law, Vernon Lane; her “grandcat” Oscar and numerous nieces and nephews. Ala was a 1944 graduate of Germantown High School and was later employed as a waitress in Florida for a time and at the Miamisburg Donut Shop as well as working for Hankins Container and providing factory work during WWII. She was also a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, First Baptist Church of Miamisburg and Senior Citizens Centers of Miamisburg and West Carrollton. She loved crossword puzzles, bingo, riverboat gambling and above all her family. Family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 12:00 Noon on Monday, April 11, 2011 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin 12:00 Noon Monday following the visitation also at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Stephen Spurgin. Burial will take place at Heritage Hills Memory Gardens, Springboro, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton at 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, in Ala’s memory.
