Stefan,
On this the one month anniversary of your Mom's passing, words still elude me. Your Mom and I shared many childhood days and hours playing, chatting, sharing.  Our adult lives were not as interconnected, but the bond was always there and we knew that we could count on each other and enjoy each other's company in person or on the phone.

She was physically beautiful, mentally gifted, graceful, talented and totally committed to her family. She gave Aunt Vie, your Dad and you the best of care.  She will guide you from God's heaven until you meet again.

I wish you all you wish for in your life. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Sending warm heartfelt hugs and love. Hope to see you soon.

Sharon and I met for the first time in Jamaica in the late 60”s, and became close friends when we migrated to the U.S. with homes a 10 minute drive apart.  While expecting her first child, she took on the role of  godmother to my first daughter Nikki, and when Kelli followed 3 years later, her ” family” suddenly grew by 4.   Sharon and Basil opened their hearts and home to Ken and I and the girls as they visited regularly and played with Stefan along with Karen’s boys Alex and Yann.
I am so grateful that after all these years there was still a close knit between the families even while the children lived out of state, and we, in Central Florida.
I will always cherish our bond and would like to continue that friendship through Stefan who already knows we are here to give him support, and that our doors are always open.    
I fondly recall her soft smile; her elegance with a European flair of dressing; the accentuating signature scarves; her beautiful skin tone with make-up meticulously done; and of course those manicured polished nails.
Sharon was a kind, compassionate, gentle soul overflowing with empathy, giving freely without complaint or self- regard. It was remarkable that for so many years, she managed to juggle her schedule between work and home, to carefully and lovingly care for her Mom, with the help of Basil and Stefan. She readily accepted the fact that there would be little or no playtime.  I have so much admiration for her dauntless spirit and stoicism especially during the past 2 years when she had to struggle not only with her own illness, but with the sudden passing of Basil, and then her Mom.
 She found bravery, fortitude, peace and solace through prayer; her steadfast Faith in God; the Church; and the Sacraments in particular Holy Communion. 
Sharon was truly an angel on earth where she touched  many lives including my own.   Her soul now rests in eternal peace.

Dear Karen,
First, I loved your poem, so beautiful.  You and I were teenage friends, through Immaculate high school and neighbours. I remember Sharon as your SO pretty  older sister, who drove a Mercedes-Benz and made the car look good! Basil was always there, the attentive boyfriend, I was glad to hear they got married.  On one of my visits to your home, your Mom showed me Sharon's room and said "she's the tidy one" which didn't bother you one bit. Well it's been a few years since we connected,  you in Switzerland, me in British Columbia Canada  but I'd like to keep in touch, life is short, I'll  always be here for you. My condolences to Stephan.

Our deepest condolences to you both. Sharon will always be remembered as a strong and giving person. She worked tirelessly to take care of her dad, mom and    Basil.  We will always remember the summer visits to Toronto and her kindness to family.

I am so very sorry for your loss.  
Sharon was such a sweet soul; and though I only got to know her in the last few years of her life, she made such an impact on me.  Her commitment to the years of care for her Mom was an expression of love and sacrifice uncommon to many.  Her trust in God on her good days and bad days was a testimony of her faith in action.  
Her legacy of love and devotion lives on and I am thankful for the time spent with her.

Dearest Sharon,
I consider you more my big sister than a cousin.  I’ve always admired your quiet strength & humour,  and how polished and organized you were.   Your unwavering faith,  and loving, devoted caregiving are inspirational for us to emulate.  I will miss your thoughtful, knowledgeable, practical advice and your calming voice.
I treasure memories of our too few but all happy times together: sleepovers spent with you, Karen, Aunt Vie, Uncle Di at your Jackshill home; and in later years, visits in Miami.  On one such occasion, Karen & Marcia were visiting too, & all our boys (altogether 9 in total) were chasing through your elegant home, Karen behind them righting your China figurines & drily commenting that the sound of tinkling China may not be music to her sister’s ears; she & I need not have worried since both you and Basil showed no concern and seemed genuinely happy that the boys were having fun.  I warmly remember our brief visit with you, Basil, Stefan, and Aunt Vie just about a couple years ago - I never thought it would have been the last time I saw you and Basil, & now that time together is an even more precious memory for me.
I pray that you are enjoying God’s Paradise with loved ones who went ahead of us, and together you are watching over Stefan and Karen.
You courageously fought a long, hard battle, and now dearest Sharon, Rest In Peace in God’s loving arms.

The last couple of years have been very stressful and difficult for you. 
You have done a lot for your family and must feel that life is not fair. It is sometimes not but one cannot do much about it.

Dear Aunt Sharon, 

This Mother's Day, I am missing my Godmother.  Like a second mother to me, you expected excellence, imparted grace, exemplified selfless love, and made sure my belly was always full.  I will miss our long chats the most.  No matter how long it had been, we always jumped right in and could go on for hours.  There was never enough time and I valued your sage advice.  I never wanted to disappoint you, and it seemed that I never could.  It was always clear that you and Uncle Basil were so proud of me.  Now I am a mother, with my own two boys, and I hope you know how proud I am of you.  I am in awe of your courage, strength, devotion and your unwavering faith in God.  I am blessed to have had you to turn to for 37 years and I am a better person and a better mother for it.  My dear Aunt Sharon, you are gone from this world too soon, but I know that you are in peace and smiling down upon us.  All my love until we meet again.  

Stefan, you are family to me.  I have the fondest memories of our childhood together. The love, sacrifice, and courage that you so gracefully demonstrate each day are unparalleled.  Time and distance are of no consequence.  Please know that you can lean on me.

Dear Auntie Sharon,

It was always a joy spending time with you, Uncle and Stefan in Miami. You always made it feel like a second home to me. It almost feels like yesterday that you were asking my mom why it took so long for us to get in from the airport, because we had to stop and get Tony Roma's. 

We certainly had our differences at times, but you always made me feel welcome, and I will always treasure the times we got to spend together.

I know that you had a lot on your shoulders, but you can finally rest in peace. You will be sorely missed.

Dear Sharon,

I am honored to know that we are connected, not only as cousins from the same strong and loving family, but also by our strong faith in our Lord God.  

I will always remember the short time I spent with you and Stefan after Basil's passing.  I saw how lovingly you cared for your Mom, and how thoughtful you were of everyone else... you certainly are a brave and selfless woman who does not hesitate to show your love of God and your faithfulness to His teachings.

For that I am so grateful... I believe your example has deepened my own faith.  

God shared a jewel with us  during your lifetime, and He has now seen it fit to call you home.  Rest in eternal peace my faithful cuz.

Dear Sharon,

My memories of you run deep - from our tender years at Empire Store, then Jack's Hill, and later in Miami and Plantation. I always thought of you like a sister - you were my "local sister" since Carol lived out of state most of our adult years.

In your own way, you made the world a better place through your kindness, caring, faith in God, courage and grace. You fought a great fight for your health, but God had a different plan. This life is over, but the journey just began. God has called you into everlasting life.

I will miss having you and Basil at our holiday gatherings, but I know that you will both be with us in spirit.

Your Mom used to play the piano at Jack Hill...quite well..enjoyed that time, used to ride bicycles around the yard wth Karen...

Last time I saw her she was so full of life. 

Many good memories especially when Stefan and my girls were children. She was a caring wife, mother, and daughter. Always had the most practical solution to any problem presented and delivered in her matter of fact way that I found it so amusing. 
She was a woman who found strength in her Faith. 

Even as we miss her soft and kind spirit,  we are joyful, knowing that dear Sharon is with Jesus.  
I remember fun times at Coffee Walk, Sunday sundaes & New Year’s Eve parties at Antrim Rd, visits  to her home in Miami - all great opportunities to labrish & chow down with her, Basil, Stefan, & her parents, & Karen too,  if she was there from across the pond. 

Amid the jokes & the chats, I witnessed Sharon’s gentle & steadfast Faith through all the trials, hers included, of the last few years.  Her Faith & that of Karen & Stefan inspire my own.
 
May Eternal Peace be hers.  Stefan & Karen, you’re lifted up in prayer

Farewell to our beautiful and courageous friend Sharon.  Your brave fight is over, and it's time to rest in eternal peace with Basil, your loving parents, and the Lord. 

We will always have fond memories of your delicious meals, our chats with Mr. and Mrs. Chang, and the fun times spent with you, Basil, and Stefan.
