Sharon Isaacson Allen, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away at age 72 on December 6, 2023, joining her late husband and best friend Jeff with whom she spent many happy years. Sherri will be remembered for her abundant love for her friends and family, her warm heart, her gentleness and kindness, and her passion for her students and teaching. Born in Lewiston, Maine, Sherri moved to Miami, Florida, to pursue an undergraduate degree, and ultimately her masters, in education. Sherri taught for decades in the Miami school system and embodied everything that makes the best teachers: patience, creativity, innovation, a lifelong dedication to her craft, and a commitment to the success and well-being of each one of her students, many of whom were underprivileged. Over the years, Sherri curated and developed bookcases of engaging teaching tools, lesson plans and projects, the result of years of experience and constantly keeping abreast of the latest research and studies, even into retirement. Sherri was proud to pass these tools down to her daughter Sarah, who followed Sherri into teaching. In moments between work and family, Sherri cherished simple things: a good book, a long walk and if the occasion was right, dancing to a favorite song. Above all, Sherri was deeply devoted to her family, including her mother Marilyn, her late father Earl, her siblings Janet, Lori and Richard, her daughter Sarah, and her grandchildren Julia, Michael and Rebecca. Sherri’s family will remember her as role model of hard work, selflessness, and, of course, love for family. While she will be deeply missed, we know that Sherri is now with Jeff, her partner in life.
Sherri’s funeral will take place at Mount Nebo/Kendall Memorial Gardens, 5900 SW 77th Ave, Miami, FL 33143 at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023. Her family in Florida will be sitting shiva in Palm Beach Gardens, FL on Monday, December 11, 2023 and Tuesday, December 12, 2023. Sarah and her family in New Jersey will be sitting shiva in Short Hills, NJ on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
