(November 20, 1930 - October 26, 2022)
Milagros was a force of nature with a playful sense of humor. She was born in Matanzas, Cuba from a humble family. At 18 years of age, she instantly fell in love with the young artist, Rafael Soriano and married in 1952. They settled in Miami in 1962 after fleeing Cuba and made a life in the United States. She became an integral and driving force in the body of work he produced. Together they made a beautiful partnership––he, the artist and she, the carpenter––making the frames and mounting canvases for him to paint. Today some of those paintings are in private collections, institutions and museums throughout the world.
She touched the lives of so many people, making them feel special and loved. It was a gift, and she gave generously.
She leaves behind her daughter Hortensia. She was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed.
A visitation for Milagros will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Little Havana, 3344 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33135. An entombment will occur.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.riverofuneralhomemiami.com for the Soriano family.
