Mary Lou was born in Key West, Florida to Lt. Col. Joseph William Knight and Mary Louise (Knowles) Knight on November 6, 1938. She was the proud daughter of an Air Force father and embraced the lifestyle with honor. Mary Lou always enjoyed returning home to Key West to spend time with family and friends after every deployment. In 1956, Mary Lou graduated from Arundel High school while their family was stationed at Ft. Meade, in Maryland. She went on to attend the University of Miami for one year prior to traveling to England in 1957 with her family for her father’s last active duty assignment.
Not long after their arrival in England, Mary Lou met her husband, Remo (Ray) Anthony Latini, who was a 1st Lt. in the Air Force. On November 15, 1958, Mary Lou and Ray married in Rushton England. A few years after marrying, Mary Lou and Ray moved to New Jersey, upon’s Ray’s completion in the Air Force. In October 1967, Mary Lou and Ray adopted their son, Raymond Anthony Latini. In 2005, Mary Lou and Ray left Parsippany, New Jersey where they resided until her husband’s retirement and their final move to Cutler Bay, Florida.
Mary Lou loved watching football. The Miami Dolphins and University of Miami Hurricanes were her teams. She enjoyed texting during the games with family and friends as they cheered on the teams in hopes of a victory. Mary Lou loved animals, especially her cats and birds. She also loved the year-round beauty of her yard, palm trees, and the American flag that she flew proudly out front. She loved to laugh, tell a joke, share memories of family, and spend time talking to friends. Mary Lou was blessed to have such great caring friends who lived next door or down the street. True friends who resided on her block and even years before helped her mom and dad. They were always there for her even when she didn’t ask.
