July 2, 2020 at the age of 90, in Miami, Florida.
Jose was born on December 4, 1929 in Guantanamo Cuba. He left at the age of two to Oviedo, Spain and later moved to Marseilles, France. After Paris was invaded by the Nazi’s in 1940 his mother rushed to return to Cuba in 1941 and where they went to work on his uncle farm. He started an apprenticeship and became a master plumber and acquired other construction techniques that brought him to New York in 1955.
He met and married the love of his life Trinidad Giral Alum in New York City in 1961. They lived in Manhattan and moved to Queens after his daughters were born.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and in his spare time enjoyed his cabin in Montauk Point and going to Bear Mountain during hunting season.
In December 1971 he and his family moved to Miami Florida. Where he worked for the State of Florida until his retirement.
He and his wife were avid world travelers He was an active member of Casa Santa Marta de Ortigueira Social Club where he enjoyed spending time with his Asturian friends and playing very competitive games of dominos.
He is survived by his spouse of 59 years Trinidad, his daughters Haydee and Iliana and their spouses, Ricardo Jimenez and Orlando Garcia his grandchildren, Michael Edward Valdes and his wife Alexandra, Matthew Valdes, Orlando Antonio Garcia, Giselle Marie Garcia his step grandchildren, Micha and Lilian Limia and his great grandson Nash Jorge Valdes.
There will be no viewing but a graveside prayer burial. Monday July 6 at
3 pm at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn, 11655 SW 117 Avenue, Miami, Florida 33186.
