Gerald “Gerry” Kravetz, born May 6, 1934, passed away on January 19, 2024 at the age of 89 with his loved ones by his bedside. Gerry was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and attended Tilden High School in Brooklyn. Gerry attended the University of Miami and graduated in 1958 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. While at Miami, he was the founding editor of the University of Miami’s Engineering Magazine. Gerry was inducted into Iron Arrow, the highest honor that can be bestowed by the university.
Gerry had a long and successful career, first as a Civil Engineer with the firm of Maurice Connell and Associates where he became Vice President. He then went on to have a long and successful career as a Developer and as a consultant for major banking institutions and R.E.I.T’s across the U.S., completing distressed projects for disposition. Later in life, with his wife, Gerry created a company that provided process management and management consulting services and software for Fortune 500 companies.
Gerry is survived by his sister Renee, his sons: Jeffrey (Lisse), Mark (Amisha), Brian (Carlos) and Scott (Lily); his wife Meg and her three children: Casey (Shari), Tricia, and Brock (Cynthia) as well as his thirteen grandchildren: Evan, Rebecca, Rachel, Joey, Alex, Ariana, Desmond, Westyn, Kaitlyn, Madison, Ryan, Zachary and Luke.
Anyone who knew Gerry knew him as someone who was intellectually and emotionally generous and passionate about his family. He has left a void that will be impossible to fill and will be dearly missed by his family, friends and those who were fortunate to know him.
