On 31 Aug 2022, Dolores Parker-Cárdenas, passed away peacefully. She was 95. Born to Hermancia Gonzalez and Granville Parker, she graduated from the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston and returned to Colombia, where her father, an engineer, was working for the Texas Petroleum Company and the Pan-American Highway, a story she was always proud to tell.
While working at the US embassy in Bogotá, Colombia, she met her husband Dr. Alberto Cárdenas with whom she had six children. Dolores was an accomplished artist and porcelain painter for which she received several international awards. A devout Catholic, she was named Lady Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher.
Dolores lived the last years of her life at the Palace Renaissance in Miami, surrounded by many people who loved her and to whom she was always grateful.
She is survived by 4 of her children and their families, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren in the United States, Switzerland, Spain, and Colombia.
A happy and well lived life, loved by all, may she rest in peace and in the company of those who left before her.
She will be missed.
A visitation for Dolores will be held Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Little Havana, 3344 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33135. A committal service will occur Monday, September 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North, 3260 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33135.
