Dave was born in New York, NY on April 25, 1935. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School, NY, NY. He received bachelor degrees in Civil Engineering and Industrial Engineering from The University of Miami. In 1964, he became a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
Dave worked for Dade County for 31 years in a variety of engineering positions including Chief of Engineering Division for the Aviation Department before his retirement in 2000. A highly skilled Jack of all trades in almost every technical discipline, he enjoyed multiple hobbies including amateur radio, metal working and machining, computers, and square dancing. He was also actively involved in the organization, Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic serving on the board of directors and reading technical textbooks to tape.
Dave is preceded in death by parents Louis and Sarah Burger.
Dave is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy; children, Andy Burger (Linda), Jed Burger (Lisa), Debbie Karcher (Michael); and six grandchildren Michael (Allie), Lauri, Julie, Max, Caitlin, and Kelly.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Riverside Gordon Mount Nebo Chapel/Kendall, 5900 SW 77th Avenue, Miami, FL 33143.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Jewish Family Service, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the National Kidney Foundation of South Florida, or to a charity of your choice.
