Daniel Patrick Orona-Samms died peacefully on Tuesday, July 9th 2024, 8:19am. He was 28 years old. Born with down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other complications that left him unable to walk, talk or eat on his own, Daniel danced through life with strength and an admirable will to live.
Daniel was born August 04, 1995 in Jamaica Queens, NY to mother Veronica Orona-Samms and father Patrick Samms. He is the oldest of 4 children, NormaBat-Sheva Orona-Samms, Francesco Orona-Samms and SaharaImann Orona-Samms. As a son, brother, uncle, nephew and grandson, Daniel always brought joy and light to his family. He had an infectious smile that would light up the room.
Having undergone countless hospital stays, surgeries and life-threatening comas, Daniel remained a loving and courageous soul that taught others to love life even through moments of adversity through his example. He was truly the example of Christ within his family.
Daniel absolutely loved music, and would dance with his whole head and body to the beat of all music. Whether he was in his wheelchair, laying down or in his walker did not matter. His favorite genres/artists ranged from Los Tigres del Norte, Nursery Rhymes, 90s techno music, the Eagles, Rod Stewart and whatever gave a good beat. His favorite songs were "Lyin' Eyes", "Have you ever seen rain" and "Raindrops keep Falling on my Head". Anytime those songs came on, Daniel had an immediate jam session. He loved dancing with his family, playing piano, watching fans spin, balloons and funny noises.
Apart from music, Daniel loved seeing new places, and would go with his family everywhere. Daniel enjoyed family Beach trips, strolls around Coconut Grove and downtown Miami, days at the park, Disney trips and walks around the neighborhood with the family dog Chanel.
Daniel will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is finally free, with the Lord.
