I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Baruj. Please accept our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of representing Baruj at our gallery, for the past 20 years or so. During that time I got to know him and spent some time with him, when I visited Miami. He was a brilliant artist, and a conceptual genius. And a very kind, thoughtful man of great intelligence. I am honored to count him as a friend and will miss him dearly. The earth is now a lesser place without Baruj Salinas gracing it, with his delightful presence.

A thoughtful and gentle man you were, dear Baruj, and a giant among Cuban painters in exile. The Cuban exiled art world has lost one of its greats. It was my privilege to know you; it is my honor to admire your work; it was a blessing to be helped by you in various exhibition projects. You will be remembered always, and deeply missed. You will always be present from page 168 of the Outside Cuba/Fuera de Cuba book, where you stated:"I will never cease to be Cuban." Now,  you belong to eternity.

I took a painting class with Baruj at MDC. It was my first one. I was so amazed and inspired by Baruj, I can only hope to have lived a life so full of passion to still be working / teaching others what I love well into my later years. He was sharper than me in that class and always was happy, calm, encouraging, greeted everyone and remembered everyone's names. The class was just last year! I hope he passed peacefully, just as sharp as ever to the very end. 

May we all live such an inspiring life.

Wherever and whenever I contacted you, you always asked if I was still painting. You were genuinely happy when I answered YES! 

Keep on painting, Baruj.
