Ronald Joseph Aucoin, AFSC

Ronald Joseph Aucoin, AFSC age 84, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Beloved husband of Sandra Schwary Aucoin for 47 years. Father of the late Lisa Louise Aucoin. Son of the late Eno Aucoin and Luce LeBlanc. Brother of the late Yvonne Aucoin Krieger and also the late Lois Aucoin. Cousin of Ted Aucoin. Brother-in-law of Irvin Schwary (Janet) and the late Ronald G. Schwary. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Aucoin was a graduate of St. Henry’s Grade School, De La Salle High School Class of 1955 and Nichols State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Aucoin was a retired teacher and basketball and baseball coach at Sam Barthe High School, and St. John Prep School where he won the State Championship in baseball in 1976, Shaw High School, Holy Cross and De La Salle High School where he retired from. He was inducted into the De La Salle Hall of Fame and the AFSC Christian Brothers Affiliate. He was a parishioner of St. Christopher Church, a member of the Syrian Lebanese American Club and the Friends of St. Henry’s. Being a coach he enjoyed watching sports. Mr. Aucoin will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Tuesday evening, October 19, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 beginning at 9:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Lisa Aucoin Endowed Scholarship in Herpetology, Southeastern Development Foundation, SLU 10293, Hammond, LA 70402 would be appreciated.
