Robert James George Sr.

Robert James George Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the age of 84. Known by his friends as "Mickey" or "George", he was a long-time resident of River Ridge. Mr. George is preceded in death by his wife Mary Lee (Lou) George, his daughter Jean McCrary, granddaughter Dana McCrary, parents Warren P. and Vera C. George, and sister Joan (Joanie) Ducote. Survived by his devoted children and their spouses, son Robert J. (Bobby) George Jr. and Sharon, and daughter Ann G. and Kevin Lupo, and daughter Janet G. and Christopher Pitzen. Also survived by his beloved grandchildren Jason J. George and wife Katie, Jessica L. Schwalb and husband Dustin, Lindsay A. Foret and husband Neal, Calli Pitzen, and Brady Pitzen. Proud great grandfather of nine great grandchildren, Elora, Elle, Liam, Mason, Leah, Megan, Walter, Henry, Alice. Also survived by brother Warren P. George Jr. and his wife May. Mr. George was like a father to his nephews Jamie and Randy and niece Katie following the death of his sister's husband and their father, James Ducote Sr. Mr. George is a retired plumber and 62-year member of Plumbers & Steamfitters' Local Union No. 60. The family expresses great appreciation for the compassionate team of doctors and nurses at Ochsner Hospital’s MSU who cared for "George" with immense integrity in his last days. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthew the Apostle Church in River Ridge on November 5, 2015. Visitation begins at 10:30am followed by Mass at 12:00 noon. Cremation and inurnment will take place at a later date in a private service. In lieu of flowers, masses are kindly requested.
