Martha Nelwyn Troxler Waldrop (Nell), 60 years of age, died peacefully at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, August 25, 2011. Nell was born October 18, 1950 in Bogalusa, LA to Ouida Kennedy Troxler and the late Richard Joseph Troxler.
She graduated from Riverdale High School in 1967, attended Nicholls State University, later graduated from LSUNO, and eventually went on to earn her Masters degree in education. She was both a librarian and a National Board Certified teacher, until she became the English Language Arts Consultant for Jefferson Parish. She was a member of St. Benilde Catholic Church. In retirement she enjoyed watching her grandchildren, cooking, traveling, shopping, and, most of all, visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Charles Edwin Waldrop, mother, Ouida Kennedy Troxler, sister, Carolyn (Carrie) Rose Herbert of Baton Rouge, LA, daughters, Stacey Waldrop Duggan of Kenner, LA, Kristin Waldrop Hendricks, of Metarie, LA, son, Brett Thomas Waldrop of Metairie, LA, sons-in-law Christopher McIlvaine Duggan, Gary Michael Hendricks, granddaughter, Kennedy Elizabeth Duggan, grandsons, Aiden Michael Hendricks, Benjamin Christopher Duggan, and Lucas Joseph Hendricks. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Nelwyn continues her legacy through her generous organ donations which will help save the lives of four people.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesfuneralhome.com
