James Alford Pilet

James A. Pilet III. Age 80 of Kenner, La, passed away at his home on Wednesday November 13,2024. James was born in New Orleans, La on August 22,1944 to Mr. James A. Pilet, Jr. and Dardanella Smith Pilet. James was a graduate of De La Salle High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from St. Mary’s Dominican College in New Orleans. James was a past commander of American Legion Post 307. He was an avid photographer taking innumerable photos of his most loved subjects: everything Mardi Gras, jazz funerals, and wildlife. He never went anywhere without his camera.

James is preceded in death by his parents James and Dardanella.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Geraldine Shaver Pilet; his children, Christine Pilet Huber (Keith J. Huber) and James A. Pilet IV (Rebecca Colclough); grandchildren: Catherine Huber, Megan Huber, Lauren Huber, and Chloe Pilet. Also survived by his sister Joan Pilet Bonnett (Joe Bonnett) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, La on Tuesday, November 19,2024 from 11:00am-1:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held in the chapel at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery, New Orleans, La.
