Gloria was raised in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and has been a resident of Metairie, LA for the past 60 years. Gloria received her education in sociology at Texas Woman’s University and was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School in Arkansas. She worked as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines and was a member of Silverliners International. Gloria is survived by her daughter Laura Kambur Parsons, son-in-law John Parsons, and her grandsons Jacob Parsons and Michael Parsons of Metairie. Gloria is survived by her beloved cousins Patrick Johnson (Jean), Mary Margaret Woodyard (Joe), Michael Johnson (Yvonne), Henry Ragar, Charles Woodyard (Elaine), Michael Woodyard, beloved niece Katrina Failla, nephew Richard Failla (Amy), many beloved family members, and life-long friends. She is the daughter of the late Harry Failla and Laura Ferrara Failla of Pine Bluff, AK. She is predeceased by her three siblings Harry Failla, Robert Failla, and Joan Failla Smith, and her dear cousins, Anthony Ragar, Billy Johnson, Robert Johnson, and Stephen Woodyard. She is also predeceased by her friend and former spouse, James George Kambur, and survived by loved members of the Kambur Family.
Gloria had good humor, loved to dance, and was a wonderful cook. A devout Catholic of Sicilian ancestry, she was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Metairie. Gloria will be lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, family member, and friend, treating everyone she met with kindness and honesty. In addition to her family, she leaves behind countless friends, and her light-hearted philosophy to "live & let live.” To know her was to love her.
A Vigil will be held on Wednesday, October, 9, 2024 at 4:30-6:00 pm at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home,4747 Veterans in Metairie.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Funeral Services on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am for Visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church at 12:00 on Thursday, October 10, 2024, located at 105 Bonnabel Blvd in Metairie. Interment to follow at Lake Lawn Cemetery, All Saints Mausoleum, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, 70124.
