Dale Thomas Young, 73, passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 23, 2024, in Barataria, LA. Born on September 20, 1951, Dale was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who left a lasting impact on everyone he knew.
Dale graduated from Fork Union Military Academy and furthered his education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN, and the Florida Institute of Technology in Jensen Beach, FL. His professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. He began his career at Taylor Diving and Salvage, where he worked from 1973 to 1986. He then joined Ace, Acme, and Patterson Truck Lines, serving from 1986 to 2000, followed by a stint at Vaulting and Cash Services/Garda from 2000 to 2013. He concluded his career at DEAN, retiring in 2020.
Outside of work, Dale loved to fish, build computers, vacation throughout Tennessee, and had a passion for all things related to the weather.
Dale was a loyal fan of the Tennessee Volunteers, LSU Tigers, and the New Orleans Saints.
To his family, Dale was the definition of a role model by showing driven work ethic, dependability, and resiliency. For anyone needing to laugh, he was a great story teller behind his witty humor.
Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Antoinette Young; son, Michael Martin Lotz Jr. (Priscilla); daughters, Ashley Meibaum (Jim), and Lindsay Marie Young; and his grandchildren, Alaina Harding, Whitney Lotz (Kerry), Scott Harding Jr., Caden Lotz (Danielle), Rylee McConnell, Madisyn McConnell, Savannah Guggenheim, Jessie Meibaum Olivo (Frank) and Abigail Meibaum. He is the son of the late Peggy Knight Pier and Robert Lee Young, and son-in-law of the late Alcolla and Juliana Barone.
Dale will be remembered for his strong presence, wisdom, and the love he had for his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Family, friends, and past co-workers are invited to the River Room at Jaeger’s Seafood & Oyster House, 901 Clearview Pkwy, Jefferson, LA 70121 for a prayer service beginning at 1:30 pm immediately followed by a Celebration of Dale’s Life, 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Saturday November 16, 2024.
