Concepcion “Connie” Rios, 76, a longtime resident of Metairie, passed away peacefully at home on July 23rd while her husband, Julio, the love of her life, held her hand and thanked her for giving him a wonderful life. Concepcion was born in Mariel, Cuba on March 27, 1947 to Adolfo F. Rodriguez and Balbina Rodriguez. She immigrated to the United States in 1961 with her parents and younger brother. Concepcion made a life for herself here while never letting go of her affection for Cuba. With her love of Cuba came a love of beaches and strong Cuban Coffee.
Concepcion graduated from UNO with a degree in accounting. Her professional life found her handling the accounting for several different companies. Her most fulfilling job, though, was being a mom, abuela, and wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolfo F. Rodriguez and Balbina Rodriguez, and her brother Adolfo F. Rodriguez Jr..
She is survived by her husband, Julio E. Rios, children, Julio E. Rios II (Victoria), Nelson E. Rios (Nicole), and Michael G. Rios, grandchildren, Christian D. Rios (Allison), Catherine L. Rios, Mona “Caroline” Rios, and Julia L. Rios and great grandchild, Cassius, niece, Teresa, nephew, Adolfo, and Goddaughter, Monica. She is also survived by countless cousins and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 9 A.M.-11 A.M. with a Catholic Mass following at 11 A.M.. Burial will be held at a later date.
