Carlos Humberto Sanchez, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, at his home in Kenner, Louisiana with his family by his side. Carlos was born on April 24, 1937, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and family in New Orleans and Honduras.
In 1980, Carlos moved to New Orleans to pursue his dream of opening his own business. He was a dedicated professional who worked hard and diligently in each detail of his work. As the owner and manager of Pro-Tax Services and C.H. Sanchez Accounting, he excelled in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and accounting. Carlos was dedicated to his work and took great pride in providing excellent service to his clients, of whom many became his lifelong friends.
Beyond his professional life, Carlos had a passion for soccer and was an avid fan of both Club Real España de San Pedro Sula and Real Madrid. Carlos enjoyed watching games and cheering on his favorite teams. In Honduras, Carlos served as President of Club Real España de San Pedro Sula and Directivo Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Honduras. In addition to his love for soccer, he also had a passion for traveling. His favorite trips were to South Africa to support his home country, Honduras, in their first World Cup appearance and El Clasico rivalry game in Spain. Exploring new places and experiencing different cultures brought him great joy especially when it included soccer.
Carlos is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Alma Guerra de Sanchez, and their children Carlos Humberto Sanchez, Jr. (Ann), Karen Lissette Rousselle (Gregg Jr), Carol Vanessa Sanchez-Pepitone (Johnny); their grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alexandra, D'inardeaux, Hunter, Kiley, and Logan. His children Vilma Nelly Rivera (Carlos), Ivette Bell (Mario), and Lucy Sanchez; his grandchildren, Debbie Lee, Victor Manuel, Jonathan, Brittany, and Brandon. Siblings, Maura, Irma, Maria Nelly, Noemi, Maria Luisa, Guillermo Antonio, Mario Roberto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonso Sanchez and Lucia Linares Zepeda.
Carlos will be remembered as a skilled professional, a passionate soccer lover, and a dedicated family man. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin held from 9:00 am – 11:00 am with a funeral Mass to begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA.
