A devoted husband of 59 years to the late Pearl White Olsen, Bryce Ernest Olsen returned to his Maker on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, from Flannery Oaks Guest House in Baton Rouge. He was 87, a resident of Baton Rouge for four years, and a native of New Orleans. Bryce built landing craft at Higgins Shipyards in New Orleans. Nearing the end of World War II, he was deployed to occupied Korea. Upon returning state side, Bryce held jobs in the public sector before becoming a long-time, loyal employee of New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board. An avid conversationalist, Bryce delighted family and friends with stories, and there were many, of the past. But with one last word, and one last smile, his stories have ended. Also preceding Bryce in death were his parents, Louis and Irma Winters Olsen; and brothers Andrew, Louis, Jr., and Roy Olsen. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until Mass in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at LakeLawn Park Mausoleum. Thanks and appreciation are extended to the Staffs of Flannery Oaks Guest House and In His Care Hospice for your dedication and compassion shown Bryce over the years. A special thanks to Alicia, Aldreamia, Dimitre and Bobbie. On line guestbook at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com
