Bonnie Strong passed away in her home on November 27 at the age of 74. She was born August 23, 1949 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Marvin Edwin Senentz and Elsie Elizabeth Hart. At age 27, she married her soulmate, Welsey Jerome Strong enjoying a beautiful 40-year marriage until his passing in 2017. She was also preceded in death by the second love of her life, a tuxedo cat named Bruno who lived to be almost 20.
She is survived by her daughter, Asia Strong (spouse, Erika Babb), older sister, Patricia Senentz, younger siblings, Steven Senentz and Anita Senentz, and stepmother, Wilmoth Senentz, as well as numerous other loved ones. She is also survived by several beloved pets, including a lumbering great dane named Dexter, lab-mix Annie, and cats, Luna, Delphine, and Tommy-Domino.
Bonnie shared countless fond memories of her days working at Fireside Inn, where she met many lifelong friends, including Wesley, the love of her life. She went on to be an exemplary wife and mother, where she delighted in many years of crafting, sewing, needlepoint, baking, jewelry making, reading (especially murder mysteries), and miniatures among other miscellaneous hobbies. She had a soft spot for almost all creatures (except snakes) and was passionate about animal welfare.
She loved her family and four-leggers as deeply as anyone ever could, and will always be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and light.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 beginning at 3PM at First Unitarian Universalist Church 5212 S Claiborne Ave, New Orleans, LA. A potluck gathering will follow at the family home. It’s certainly not required, but feel free to bring a small token to place at the altar, a favorite picture, a candle, a memory, or a letter. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her honor to the ASPCA or a local animal shelter or rescue of your choosing.
